The Tech Savvy Teacher
So you don’t think you are tech savvy? Do you feel like you are behind on the times? That is okay! In this co
lumn, we will present fun and easy ways to integrate technology into your classroom. All you need is a computer and a temperature sensor probe the Logger Pro software.Simply plug the temperature sensor into the USB port of your computer and open the Logger Pro software.

This experiment addresses the Third Grade Science Standard 5 Objective 3 which states that students will demonstrate that heat may be produced when objects are rubbed against one another. Allow students to experiment rubbing the probe against v
arious objects and materials to see how the temperature increases or decreases. Students can observe the temperature changes by looking at the relationship of temperature and variables used, such as, speed of rubbing or materials used. A fun discovery activity may be challenging the students to form letters on the graph, such as M, W, N, V, U, etc.Technology brings excitement into the classroom and engag
es students at a whole new level. Children live in a world of technology and need hands-on learning. This is a great way to bring the two together. The temperature sensors and the software program allow the students to be directly involved in their learning. They are able to easily observe the effect of friction and the variables used.
